And in the blink of an eye, it was gone.
Two years of posts; pictures, rants, music, banter, all gone in an instant.
As if something from the out of the darkness, just snatched it from us.
FireFawkes is dead… Long live FireFawkes!
My two favourite scenes from one of my favourite Who episode:
Just listen to the music.
No words BBE.
Geek-gasim!
(P.S. Is it wrong that the Who-lite episodes are turning into the best ones?)
London Preppy Fawkes: Saturday 7th June
0 Comments Published June 12th, 2008 in Fawkes, Holiday, MusicSo this is Saturday morning and we’re up surprisingly early, all things considered. And this is because this is the day that we’ve been waiting for for months, and no one can sleep. Yes today we are going to see the Foos at Wembley Stadium!

And after hearing good things about last night’s performance, we’re extra amped up for tonight’s! So we leave the hotel and go have a wander around the Borough Market. Which is packed with (hot) Homo-gays, holding hands and what not, which the girls were in awe about, despite the fact that we were there with them.

So after sampling some of the delights (best chocolate brownie ever!) for brunch, we headed off into town, eventually ending up at the Camden Market. (What can I say the girls are like magpies for cheap random tat!) And before we knew it, it was time for the gig.
After a quick pit stop to change into less formal wear (read: clothes that you don’t mind burning afterwards due to the inevitable plastic cups of piss/Carlsberg/some combination there of, being lobbed at you throughout the gig), we were at Wembley.

Having never been before, I was quite impressed by the view stepping out out of the train station, looking down the long avenue to that arch reaching into the sky.

A sight all the more impressive when you’re actually standing on the pitch looking up at it towering above you. Walking out onto the pitch and looking at the crowds around you in the stadium is something else, let me tell you! Part of me was hoping for rain so that I could watch the roof close over head, but (un)fortunately it stayed dry.

We got there just as Supergrass was finishing their set. Kinda felt sorry for them, as no one seemed to be enjoying it, but I suppose we were all here to see the Foos. Thankfully we missed the god awful Fearne Cotton appearance earlier in the day, where it was rumoured that she had been booed off the stage. (Frak know how she keeps on getting work!?).

The photos kinda give the impression that we were miles from the stage, but we were actually right up near the front, and Dave went on a walk about several times.
So yeah Best Gig Ever! Included World’s Greatest Triangle solo, an emotional Dave Grohl and of course, Lead Zep legends Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones in the encore (with Dave on Drums and Tyler singing Rock n Roll.)

And then it was time to go home, which involved riot police on horse back putting crowd control measures into practice. Somehow we managed to be at the front of the exodus, so managed to get the tube back into the centre with no probs, but others were left standing outside Wembley park for hours.
Part of me wishes that I’d taken my camera to catch some fantastic shots of the night, while the other part is so glad that I didn’t get it ruined in the mosh!
So it’s Friday morning and I’ve just got off the first flight from Glasgow to Heathrow, still a bit dazed from getting up at 4am, after only having about three hours sleep.

I have the choice of either using what’s left on my Oyster card to get me into London Bridge via the Tube or get the Heathrow express. Then I remember that if I got the underground then I’d have to travel through zones 3 and 4, and we can’t have that, so I fork out the £15 for the Heathrow Express and find myself at Paddington 10 minutes later. Still dazed. But at least now all I have to do is hop onto the Bakerloo and I’m at the hotel.

For this I’m wearing my leather jacket, ancient green hoodie from ___ and a pair of old jeans. And this I realise, won’t do for being seen in London, so the suitcase is left with the concierge (since check in isn’t ’til after 12) and I hit the shops. First stop is Abercrombie & Fitch, for it’s infamy has travelled as far as Glasgow. And the stories are all true. I find myself in what I’d describe as a gay club; very dark with pounding techno music and very very beautiful men eager to serve me (ahem). So I buy a polo shirt and a pair of generic Abercrombie jeans, because that’s what all the staff are wearing, and I want to be like them. And that’s me spent over 150 quid already and it’s not even 11am. Thank you Gold Credit Card!
And this depresses me, so I go to the Starbucks next door and have a Grande Strawberries and Cream Frappachino thing, and a skinny peach muffin, and drown my sorrows in the empty calories, for I will never look as good as that.

But this does give me a sugar high, so I carry on window shopping down Oxford and Regent Street, taking in the sights and sounds. Remembering that I actually dislike Londoners and their short tempers, arrogance and general rudeness. Although I do appreciate the Dolce & Gabbana posters all over town. Then it’s back to the hotel.

Later on Friday night end up walking the streets around Tottenham Court Road looking for a bar, where my friend’s boyfriend is having a few birthday drinks. And we stand in the street doing shots of tequilla and I discover the price of a round in the capitol. And then I go back to the hotel and fall into a deep sleep because I’ve been up for 24 hours already and I’ll need my energy for the weekend ahead…
So the new HD trailer for The Clones Wars has been unleashed onto the interwebs. And it’s looking fantastic!
If you don’t want to download it in it’s full glory here’s an older teaser trailer to enjoy instead.
I loved the original Clone Wars cartoons, and I’m really looking forward to this big screen 3D CGI adaptation. Wether or not the plot is any good will be debatable, as are the reasons why George Lucas seems to keep looking for new ways to make shit loads of money (what’s he spending it all on? His own Death Star?) But who cares, it’s Star Wars!
So… Umm… Yeah I don’t know what happened!
Honestly, I’m away for two weeks and suddenly my account is deactivated for inactivity?! Yikes! Maybe it’s the powers that be giving me the boot up the arse to actually write more.
Thanks to all who e-mailed/facebooked (is that even a verb?) with your messages of concern for my well-being. But never fear, I am alive, having survived the fortnight of hell relatively unscathed, and I haven’t thrown in the blogging hat. (Although I honestly don’t know why people keep reading this. I’ve barely posted anything of worth all year.)
I have a few stories to share with you, so you can look forward to having a few minutes of procrastination this week while we catch up.
So went to the premier screening of Iron Man last night. And… wow! One of the best comic book superhero movies ever. Up there with X-Men 2 and Batman Begins.
Definitely worth the trip to the cinema.
Plus I think it works on a level that makes it accessible to non-comic book nerds as well. Just shows you what a great director, stellar cast (who, may I add, improvised much of the lines) and spending some time to actually write a decent story (rather than just throwing money at the SFX department), can do for a movie. I hope that now Marvel Studios are reclaiming control over, and producing films with, their own creations we get to see more of this high calibre superhero movies.
So bring on the summer 2008 blockbuster season!
Hey kids,
Sorry there’s not been much going on here lately, uber busy in the real world at the moment. I did manage to get the MSH for April finished though…

Didn’t even get to the Fire Festival last night, so going to have to wait another year. Suppose I could always perform in it, that way I’ll definitely be going next time!
So yeah Battlestar, Doctor Who, blah blah blah
Via Gateworld
Sweet! Always wondered what it would be like if they weren’t confined to a TV budget.
Which reminds me, I don’t think I ever published that post I wrote about the last movie The Ark of Truth…
Makes you want to break into song!
Awesome!
Something, when you think about it, to make you feel better on Hump Day (even though it is an advert for a TV channel).

Choice quote:
“[The Pope] will hear from the president that America and the world need to hear his message that God is love, that human life is sacred.”

Unless you’re gay, “pro-choice”, non-white (American) or just open to the voice of reason in general…

Why do I have the Imperial Death March playing in my head and the sudden desire to watch Return of the Jedi…?
Where has everyone gone? Is this a sign of the end of the blogging craze? Has it run it’s course, or is it just that time of year when apathy sets in in general? Arguably the same thing is going on here, but that’s ’cause I’ve got my hand tied behind my back with regards to what I can actually write about in my real life…
It’s almost as if there’s been some kinda timey-wimey incident that’s swallowed up half of the blogsphere. Are they lost forever? Perhaps not, as I’ve just discovered some old blogs have recently reappeared, so they’re now filling the gaps in my blogroll. (Go check them out!)
Maybe I should create a “On Hiatus” category for those of you that have decided to take a break from the blogsphere. A gone but not forgotten list, in case you ever decided to give it ago again?

"Our greatest fear is not that we are
inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our
light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who
am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?You are a child of God. Your
playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing
enlightened about shrinkingso that other people won't feel
insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of
God within us. It is not just in some; it is in everyone. And, as
we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people
permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our
presence automatically liberates others."
